Ojmar smart locker locks explained
Ojmar has been making locks in the Basque Country in Spain for over a century. It started in 1919 and moved into locks in the 1940s. Today it's one of the best-known names in locker locks for gyms, workplaces, schools and leisure centres, and it makes its products in its own factory in the EU. Ojmar calls its OTS 20 "the #1 selling RFID locker lock in the world".
The range has grown a lot, and the model names can be confusing. Here's what each family does.
OTS: RFID locks (tap a card, wristband or fob)
- OTS 10 is the simple option, set up for shared (free) use only. It runs for up to 10 years on four AA batteries.
- OTS 20 is the workhorse for gyms. It works in free or dedicated mode, reads the common Mifare card types, so it can use the same card as an access control system, and keeps an event history. It also runs for up to 10 years on four AA batteries. Ojmar says it's used in over 1,000 facilities worldwide.
- OTS 20 Batteryless powers itself when the user pushes the lock, so there are no batteries to change at all.
- OTS 40 is the connected system. The locks talk to Ojmar's cloud software, so managers can see occupancy, open lockers remotely, set alarms and pull reports. Users can even book a locker in advance. It reads a wide range of credentials, including HID cards and mobile credentials, and Apple Wallet.
OCS: Bluetooth keypad
The OCS 30 combines a touch keypad with Bluetooth, so users can enter a code or open the lock from their phone. Ojmar provides a user app, a management app, and a software kit for operators who want it inside their own app.
OGS: electronic keypad
The OGS 10 is a straightforward PIN keypad lock (4 to 6 digits). It works in free or dedicated mode and has a master code and an emergency key. It's a cost-effective way to replace mechanical locks.
Mechanical
Ojmar still makes coin, key and combination locks for sites that don't need electronics.
Which one suits you?
Gym or health club with member cards: OTS 20, using the member's card or wristband.
Large club, corporate tower or multi-site group: OTS 40 with cloud management.
Boutique studio, hotel spa or office: OCS 30 or OGS 10.
Pool or leisure centre on a budget: OTS 10 or mechanical.
The right answer depends on how many people use the lockers, whether they already carry a credential, and how much management you want. We'll talk it through and recommend a setup.
