Locker locks for schools, workplaces and clubs
Gyms are only part of the story. Schools, offices and sporting clubs all have lockers, and most of them have the same problems: lost keys, forgotten combinations, broken padlocks, and staff time spent opening lockers for people. Electronic locks solve most of that, and the right setup looks different in each kind of facility.
Schools and colleges
School lockers are usually dedicated, with one student per locker for the year. The issues are familiar to every school office: lost keys, shared combinations and the end-of-year clean-out.
- RFID locks can use the student ID card the school already issues, so there's nothing extra to lose.
- Keypad locks let students set their own code, and staff can open any locker with a master code or key.
- Sports and PE change rooms often suit free-use locks, where any empty locker can be used for the lesson.
- Boarding houses and staff rooms benefit from audit trails and dedicated lockers.
Private schools are also building serious strength and conditioning centres. Lockers and bag storage should be part of that plan. See Designing a team strength and conditioning room.
Workplaces
As offices move to flexible desks and hybrid work, lockers have become the place people keep their things. Ojmar's connected OTS 40 is designed for this. It uses the same staff access card or mobile credential as the building, and lockers can be managed from the cloud: who's using what, remote opening, and reports for facilities teams. Locksmart Australia, our sister company, works with major property groups and corporates on exactly this.
End-of-trip facilities (showers, change rooms and bike storage) need lockers too, and they're increasingly part of what tenants expect from a building.
Sporting clubs
Clubs have players, coaches, staff and visiting teams all sharing the same rooms on different days. That suits locks that can switch between dedicated and free use, with a master credential for staff. Many clubs want their colours and crest on the lockers and in the change room. We can carry the club identity through the joinery and the training floor. See Your logo in the floor.
Retrofit or new?
In most cases, existing lockers can be upgraded. Ojmar locks are wireless at the door, with no hubs, power supplies or cabling, and they're designed to replace mechanical locks on existing doors. New builds can choose the lock and the locker together.
Servicing
Electronic locks need occasional battery changes and reprogramming. Locksmart Australia provides servicing, programming and spare parts for Ojmar locks Australia-wide and in New Zealand. Ojmar's batteryless models remove battery changes altogether.
